When i left i had to turn the water off. I received the instructions from my supervisor by phone mail while i was at a “forget the year” party (crying in front of all my coworkers over kanji, very professional). In the process of looking for the knob to turn the water off, i opened the door in my kitchen floor which i thought was some kind of crawl space. Turns out to be a...

My new year’s resolution — unprecedented — to watch more television. But i suddenly want to write instead. Actually i spent the past week at Yukari’s under the kotatsu, where i probably saw enough television to last the year. But it seemed like good practice and more fun than actually studying, and now i can recognize the idols featured on my students’ school...

Tonight i made sweet potato rice for dinner. It’s nice and warming for Fall.

Today i had a small adventure. Despite moving to a foreign country last month, i’ve had relatively few adventures lately. It’s probably because i live in a very quiet village. It’s mostly children and elderly farmers.
Anyway, i think the scale of my “adventure” today illustrates how few i’ve had.
OH! It’s raining! It sounds so nice. I left my bike out though… i got home just a few minutes...
the highlight of my day, yesterday, was being asked to serve coffee to the principal and superintendent. but then i got flustered about whether or not i should bow on my way out of the room, and accidentally knocked the tray into the doorframe when i turned around. it made a very loud noise. at least it was empty.

1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup milk
1 mashed banana
1 Tbsp oil
1 egg
Mix the wet ingredients in a bowl. Mix the dry ingredients in a bigger bowl. Add the wet to the dry and mix just...

one girl looked at these sunflowers for a long time. although i don’t know her it seems like i shouldn’t say any more about it. but the same thing happened to me today when someone unexpectedly read my palm.
sometime later i found the correct flower shop and also yukari. we went to Obon de Gohan.

I know i said i wanted to be a morning person but i don’t really consider 4am “morning”… although the sun does rise much earlier here. I’d decided to lay off the hotel coffee so i went out to find a latte. I waited till six but no coffee shops were open (there are a lot of starbucks and such but i think the morning-commute-take-out-coffee is not so customary...

I have a dress that i keep looking at thinking “i want to have that made into a skirt,” but it’s never high on the list of things i set out to do. But today, i decided that along with my other errands, i would just try and do it.
The tailor was confused that the dress was mine and i was confused by the tailor’s accent, but i’m optimistic about it. It’s going...
